UPDATE: Recipe says 1/2 c. applesauce but it should be 1½ cups applesauce
This one is for my mother. She's lost this recipe almost as many times as she's made it. We have half a dozen copies of it floating in at least 2 countries and 3 states, but every time she wants to make it, the recipe has undoubtedly disappeared. Hopefully this will make it easier for her to find in the future.

Folks, this is a great cake for people who "aren't cake people". I'm more of a pie and cobbler person myself, but I do enjoy this one on my birthday!
